Menu Revamping!

Out with the old, and in with the new.

I have probably spent more hours on this than I should've, but I finally am getting close to something of a working menu system for Supr!

After doing some research online, I have found a tutorial video showing how to make a proper Menu Manager in unity, which can be found here.

The menu system that the tutorial taught was not to far off from the code that I used, though in the end, it was allot cleaner and thought out then mine was.

Going through the process of switching to the newer menu from the older one, required me to basically start from scratch. As the older one was broken with spaghetti code and improper components. So with the new design requirement in hand, I went ahead and reimagined the menu screens.

Admittedly, in my opinion, the older menu still looks better than the newer one I threw together, but I plan to improve the newer one over time as the game evolves to its finished state.

What's Left

So after I complete these menu systems, what is there left to do before I release it?

Well... Allot, truth be told. In terms of the unchecked stuff on the todo list, there are quite a few things:

  • Design 10 sections for each difficulty (With there being 4 difficulties, that amounts to 40 stages in total)

  • Add Sound Effects and Music

  • Implement a checkpoint & hardcore system.

  • Make the menus work together will all the levels

  • Create level transitions

Not specifically in that order are the jist of the things that I need to get done. Hopefully soon I will be able to start designing the levels for the game as it has been a long time coming.

What with the rates at which I'm able to work on this stuff, my IRL job is still quite time consuming in my day to day life and may hinder my progress until my next weekend. Being about a week off from now, I want to still try getting some work done on Supr in the mean time as my eagerness for the finished product rises.

Future Plans

Nothing is set in stone right now, but in the future I do wanna group together with a few other designers to build more intercut and well thought out games. Hoping to bring dreams and passions to life with creation!

Until next time,

~Sin
